TYPES OF REHEARSALS
Knowledge organisers on the different types of rehearsals. This includes information on:
Detailed definitions and examples
The roles of the creative team
Checklists
Reflection questions
Exploration activities to help students learn about and understand different types of rehearsals.
REHEARSAL SKILLS EXPLORER
This digital, interactive explorer introduces drama students to eight key skills that help them prepare, create and work together:
Time Management
Creative Experimentation
Communication and Collaboration
Preparation and Warming Up
Contributing Creative Ideas
Focus
Applying Research Findings
Responding to Ideas and Others
Students explore what each skill means and why it matters to performers. Simple evaluation questions then encourage them to reflect on their own rehearsal experiences, recognise their strengths, identify areas for development and decide what to work on next.
REHEARSAL SKILLS WORKSHEETS
These worksheets help drama students explore and develop the eight key rehearsal skills, turning practical experiences into opportunities to reflect and improve.
Each skill development worksheet introduces a skill and provides focused questions to help students consider how they used it in rehearsal. A skill rating scale, development reflection and feedback action plan encourage students to recognise their strengths, identify challenges and set clear next steps.
REHEARSAL PROCESSES CARDS
Bring fresh ideas and a clear focus to rehearsals with a wide range of practical exercises exploring physicality, voice, improvisation, text analysis, blocking and staging.
Designed for drama students, these cards encourage performers to experiment with different approaches, develop their characters and make purposeful performance choices. Use them to start a rehearsal, explore a scene, tackle a challenge or refine work in progress.
Print, cut out and laminate to create a reusable rehearsal resource. Students can select a card to guide independent exploration, work through an exercise in pairs or groups, or use the cards as a starting point for teacher-led activities.
